What you will be doing:

Selling a memorable experience in an authentic location is the essence of an Assistant Director of Sales' role at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. Your professionalism and knowledge of the Hotel will reflect positively in how you present the property. Building strong relationships will create a bond, ensuring your clients will always stay with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. 

  • The ADOS will have a personal group sales goal to achieve in addition to managing the Group Sales team, including coordinators, to ensure the overall budgeted Sales targets are achieved
  • Develop and implement strategy to maximize hotel Group revenue
  • Ensure effective relationship management of existing accounts
  • Exceed personal goals as well as department budget on a yearly basis
  • Work closely with the Director of Sales and Director of Revenue Management to secure qualified group business
  • Responsible for executing the annual business and marketing plan for the Group market segment in conjunction with the Director of Sales
  • Participate in tradeshows, conventions and promotional events within the hotel and trade related organizations
  • Ensure and enforce the integrity of Opera Sales and Catering at all times
  • Promote the professional development of all members of the Sales Department
  • Ensure maximum employee satisfaction and conduct annual performance reviews with the Sales team
  • Ensure strict compliance to the health and safety guidelines of the department/hotel
  • Attend Sales and Marketing and Groups meetings

Your experience and skills include:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Group Sales in a luxury hotel 
  • Minimum 3 years experience selling for a luxury hotel brand
  • Bachelors Degree and/or Hotel Management Degree is an asset
  • Understanding revenue maximization tools.
  • Ability to develop relationships with all levels of clientele, and interact with people from different cultures and backgrounds
  • Astute attention to detail
  • A passion for exceeding client expectations
  • Highly organized, results-oriented with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills essential
  • Strong account management and contract negotiation skills
  • Computer literacy in various applications including Opera, Word, Excel, Power Point is required
  • Ability to understand and interpret financial data
  • Positive attitude and supportive, team based approach towards the attainment of the hotel’s short and long term goals
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours and days

Physical Aspects of Position (included but not limited to):

  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs 
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting 
  • Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Frequent sitting throughout shift

When the hotel opened in 1929 it was the tallest building in the British Common Wealth and contained 1,048 rooms, a concert hall, library, extensive bakery, radio station and even a hospital.
