The role of the Pastry Chef

BASIC PURPOSE:   The Pastry Chef is the creative force behind the desserts, sweets, wedding cakes and breads at the resort. This department services 5 outlets and banquets. Responsibilities include menu and recipe creation, banquet event execution, participating in tastings, ensuring a consistent product, quality control, food costs, labor control, daily operation organization and developing and training a solid culinary team. Must demonstrate high standards of professionalism and have a passion for providing a unique and delicious culinary experience for the guests.

Previous experience as a Pastry Chef in a resort is preferred. Three to five years previous experience in multiple culinary/food & beverage department head positions specializing in pastry design and creation. Experience with a remote location or Caribbean resort is beneficial. First time Executive Pastry Chef must have a solid portfolio reflecting creativity and demonstrated success as a culinary leader. Culinary training or degree required.
