About the role
 
We are currently recruiting for a Director of Human Resources to join the dynamic team at Grosvenor House Suites by Jumeirah living.  This candidate will be expected to deliver strategic, added value HR interventions to the business and act as a business partner to ensure the achievement of the hotel objectives. They will be required to lead the operational HR team in the provision of added value HR and training excellence that makes Jumeirah a preferred employer whilst demonstrating commercial awareness.
 
Main duties include:
  • Provide leadership, direction and support to the HR team in order to increase knowledge and share best practice
  • Develop and  drive the  SBU HR Strategy  in line with Regional HR direction and monitor its execution to ensure achievement of the objectives
  • Drive the continuous improvement agenda with particular focus on engagement & welfare activities, maximising productivity, devolving HR responsibilities to line managers and building leadership capability 
  • Ensure free-flowing, two-way communication between SBU HR and Regional HR and internal communications are well planned and coordinated so that colleagues receive relevant and timely messages in an appropriate style and medium
  • Be visible within the business including regular walk rounds and making time to engage with colleagues
  • Drive the annual HR budget process and ensure HR & Training P&Ls  are well managed and monitored
  • Propose changes to organisational structures using best practice organisational development  principles to provide the most appropriate structure to support future growth
  • Consult on workforce planning activities in order to optimise manning levels, productivity and service standards in the most cost effective manner
  • Regularly  analyse and review HR statistics to identify trends so that attention can be directed to key issues and resources  adjusted accordingly
  • Take responsibility for the recruitment and selection of all colleagues in order to ensure good hiring decisions
  • Ensure the on-boarding process of all colleagues is handled in a professional and positive  manner to expedite the settling in period
  • Manage the maintenance of the HRMS
  • Conduct regular compliance checks to ensure adherence to company audit standards
  • Ensure COS results are communicated, analysed and action plans are developed and reviewed on a regular basis to improve  colleague engagement
  • Advise on and update HR policies in line with legislative changes
  • Ensure all activities in the  manage performance process are well executed so that colleagues have the opportunity to participate, receive feedback and given opportunities to develop
  • Manage the talent management process in order to ensure talent management is fully embraced in order to identify, nurture and develop a pool of potential talent to meet future workforce needs
  • Work closely with other SBUs in order to identify and transfer relevant talent between the regions
  • Regularly coach,  mentor and support senior and high potential colleagues to identify individual strengths and development needs, develop and maintain effective relationships and encourage retention
  • Agree goals and KPIs of direct reports, provide regular two-way feedback and developmental opportunities to help them be successful in current and future roles
  • Ensure training programmes and development opportunities operate at a consistently high standard in order to deliver high quality guest and leadership experiences and embed the Jumeirah culture
  • Conduct annual remuneration and benefit surveys and reviews in order to maintain the desired remuneration position in the local area
  • In liaison with the GM, determine relevant KPIs for incentive schemes, monitor the system and ensure results are well communicated
  • Ensure the departure process of colleagues is handled in a professional and positive manner to ensure colleagues leave with a good impression
  • Ensure dismissals are well managed to  protect the company and ensure colleagues are treated fairly and consistently and depart with respect and dignity
  • Participation in sports and social activities, ensuring senior team presence
  • Duty Management shifts
About you
 
The successful candidate will have have a Bachelors degree in HRM and CIPD Membership, together with:
 
Essential
  • Minimum 5 years in a generalist HR role
  • Minimum 2 years managing a team (any discipline)
  • Minimum 2 years hospitality experience (operational or support areas)
  • Luxury/5* experience
Desirable
  • Experience working in London
  • Management role in a culturally diverse workforce
  • Change management
