Commercial Director - Waldorf Astoria New York

As the Waldorf Astoria New York emerges from a multi-year renovation and reimagination, this role is fully accountable for all hotel topline revenue performance including rooms, local and group catering, F&B outlets, parking, seasonal programming, spa, membership, special events, holiday experiences, etc.
The Commercial Director is accountable for achieving all commercial targets including but not limited to budget, forecast and market share. Concurrently, the Commercial Director is directly responsible and charged with design and deployment of longer-term commercial vision targeting incremental revenue outcomes and longer-term success.
What will I be doing?
As a Commercial Director, business processes should be designed to impact all revenue streams. Key deliverables for this role are to move the business analytics, processes, including cadence of activities to a "predictive and prescriptive" approach to drive performance.
Although driving topline revenue performance is key for this role, total asset profitability strategy and execution is a critical component of the Commercial Director’s success. This includes, but is not limited to, development and communication of commercial strategies and standards through a structured cadence and analysis of hotel revenue performance against established goals.
- Create a robust people-first culture built on engagement and trust that supports the effective business execution needed to keep pace with the industry’s evolving environment
- Lead with a customer-centric mindset, cultivating deep relationships with customers and key partners
- Maintain deep understanding of current affairs, industry trends, future platforms, and competitive threats, actively design strategies to counter the potential negative impact, develop strategies to benefit from potential positive impacts, and memorialize results
- Actively participate in defining the story of the Waldorf Astoria New York in its entirety, both hotel and residences
- Lead hotel Directors of Sales, Marketing, Catering & Events, Revenue Management and Public Relations to develop a clear and positive business plan that supports the hotel’s optimal mix and long-term financial objectives
- In partnership with the Luxury regional commercial leaders and General Manager, design the annual and multi-year strategic intentions, commercial strategy and performance targets to present to key business partners and ownership groups
- Liaise with regional support and brand teams in collaboration with the hotel’s General Manager, Director of Finance, and Hotel Manager to ensure profits are maximized in line with TGOP and EBITDA targets
- Lead annual commercial cadence communication regarding current realities of performance and performance drivers on a monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual basis
- Develop the strategy and delivery of all hotel revenues including, but not limited to, the following: rooms, local and group catering, food & beverage outlets, parking, seasonal programming, spa, special events, holiday experiences, etc.
- Establish optimal mix, review and validate revenue forecasts to improve accuracy while developing strategies for different demand periods, and review and approve retail, group and catering pricing strategies
- Ensure business review guidelines, group pricing and rate quotation strategies are in place to maximize all pricing components of sales and catering opportunities which will achieve positive market share
- Lend expertise to and support hotel’s marketing and public relations activities
