Job Requirements

The Sales Manager works closely with the Director of Sales to determine appropriate sales strategies in all market segments towards maximizing the hotel revenues. The Sales Manager is responsible for revenue production for the hotel, and meeting or exceeding planned revenue objectives for occupancy and average daily rate(ADR). The Sales Manager is a hands on manager, actively involved on a daily basis in securing, qualifying and following up on leads to specific business, in addition to working closely with the FD and management team to identify new business opportunities.

Sales Manager Essential Job Functions:

-Meets or exceeds budgeted RevPAR for the hotel

-Prepares hotel’s Annual Marketing Plan

-Prepares departmental budget that correctly reflects the hotel’s business plan

-Knows the hotel’s demand segments, sources of business for each and balances market segments according to supply and demand

-Knows the principal competition for each market segment and takes advantage of hotel’s strengths against each competitor

-Accurately forecasts occupancy changes based on changing market conditions(additions to supply and demand, etc.)

-Supports guest service as the hotel’s driving philosophy

-Personally demonstrates a commitment to guest service by responding to guest’s needs

-Develops/assists with the hotel’s marketing and sales plan based on the hotel’s position and strengths within each market segment

-Implements hotel’s marketing and sales plan

-Analyzes and understands the competition’s strengths and weaknesses for each market segment and successfully directs marketing activities against each

-Identifies and maintains constant communications with the hotel’s key accounts and builds relationships with all accounts

-Actively sells rooms nights through outside sales calls, telemarketings, tours, etc

-Utilizes yield management techniques by profitability negotiating room rates and function space commitments in order to enhance the hotel’s financial performance

-Additional duties as assigned by General Manager and Director of Sales

Work Experience

-Ideal candidate has Hilton sales experience or relative 3+ years hotel sales experience

-Requires knowledge of general sales techniques, yield management, and customer service skills

-Requires the ability to hear, speak, read and write English fluently

-Must have dexterity/mobility to meet clients on and off premises, to tour property and attend functions, to climb stairs, and to operate basic office equipment

-Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and to work on more than one task at a time

-Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent. Hospitality degree a plus
