Hilton Vancouver is hiring for a Bellperson / Valet to join the team!  

 

($400 Sign on Bonus)

($150 after the completion of 8 shifts and $250 after 60 days of employment)

($14.49 Per Hour)

 

This position requires open and flexible availability to work 8 hour shifts, within the hours of 5:30am-2:00am. Please have a flexible schedule and ability to work holidays and weekends is required. Prior bellperson, bellman, or valet experience is a plus, but not required. We are looking for someone who has a great attitude!

As a Bellperson / Valet, you would be responsible for the following:

  • When working as a Bellperson, you would be responsible for escorting arriving and departing guests in a friendly, courteous manner to and from their accommodations, transporting their luggage. Acquaints each guest with room and features.
  • When serving as Valet, you would be responsible for transporting guest vehicles in a prompt and courteous manner to and from the parking structure using safe driving practices.


What will I be doing?

As a Bellperson / Valet, you would be responsible for the following:

  • When working as a Bellperson, you would be responsible for escorting arriving and departing guests in a friendly, courteous manner to and from their accommodations, transporting their luggage. Acquaints each guest with room and features. Specifically, you would be responsible for the following:
    • Retrieves guest items from cars, busses, vans and carts. Grasp, lift, carry and/or load luggage and packages onto a bell cart to transport items throughout hotel to designated room. Navigates bellcart through public areas, guest room corridors and to elevators.
    • Escorts customers to accommodations, visually inspects room and telephone and deficiencies such as towels to housekeeping immediately. Points out room features and directory for reference.
    • Listens and responds to guest inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice. Answers questions and offer assistance giving accurate information regarding outlet hours, other hotel services, directions to local attractions or function rooms, car rentals, air line shuttle service, etc.
    • Organizes and store luggage as necessary in a designated area.
    • Greets customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome. Remain calm and attentive, especially during heavy hotel activity and emergencies
  • When serving as Valet, you would be responsible for transporting guest vehicles in a prompt and courteous manner to and from the parking structure using safe driving practices. Specifically, you would be responsible for the following:
    • Operates vehicle using safe driving practices to ensure safe delivery of vehicle to and from the parking garage.
    • Tickets vehicle, writing guest name, room number, car license, make/model, amount of charge and length of stay on ticket. Follows established procedures for car control, including but not limited to maintaining neat, accurate logs of keys and completing required valet parking log sheets and reports. Retrieves information on guest vehicles and claim checks using Valet desk computer system as needed.
    • Greets and thanks guests in proper English, using a clear, pleasant voice. Responds to inquiries with accurate information regarding directions to local attractions, car rentals, meeting rooms, etc., according to individual needs. Assists guests with taxi services, wheelchair requests, parking options, etc.
    • Promptly answers Valet phone using positive and clear English communication. Verbally arranges and confirms parking valet requests from guests and makes appropriate arrangements for bell desk services. Responds accurately to general inquiries regarding hotel services and attractions.
    • Assists Door Attendant in opening car doors and unloading/loading of luggage to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the valet area, issuing claim checks and tagging bags as needed. Assists guests with check-in procedures.

EDUCATION

Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.  High School graduate or equivalent preferred

EXPERIENCE

Prior guest service or other hospitality experience preferred.

Prior driver, hospitality, Bell person or Door person experience preferred.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

Valid WA driver's license and good Driver's Abstract required.

CPR certification and/or First Aid training preferred.

GROOMING/UNIFORMS

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance. Specific uniform guidelines and/or required articles of clothing will be explained to you as a part of the orientation process.

OTHER

Ability to speak another language in addition to English is preferred

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY - Bellperson

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to understand and follow written and or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information.
  • Ability to read English language sufficient to ascertain information from luggage tags and claim checks to write numbers and names on claim checks and rooming lists.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, boxes and luggage up to 50 lbs. continuously throughout shift.
  • Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in one hand to be able to load and unload luggage.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances on property.

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing English sufficient to ascertain and document appropriate information.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger.
  • Ability to maintain an alert and attentive demeanor.
  • Ability to read English language to ascertain information from valet tickets.
  • Ability to write legibly.
  • Ability to access and accurately input and organize information into an established record keeping system.
  • Ability to retrieve information from a Valet computer system.
  • Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to be able to load and unload luggage.
  • Ability to operate vehicles with automatic and standard transmissions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or otherwise transport luggage weighing a maximum of 75 lbs.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise move or push packages, bags and luggage on a hand truck/cart or other wheeled assistance weighing a maximum of 500 lbs.
  • Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing stairs and walking distances throughout the property.
