Your day to day

Summary –

Develop, direct, and own the business product vision and strategy for the Revenue Management Product Portfolio, which impacts all channels, regions, customer segments, and brands.  The RM products provide the revenue engine for the company and all of our hotels and include the models recommending hotel  pricing/rates, hurdle points for yielding, revenue strategic business plans (SBRP), Concerto RMH Toolkit, Inventory setup (RPCP), and Group Pricing (GPO).  These products will go through a significant discovery and transformation to improve the way that IHG hotels price, inventory manage, and plan for events, seasonality, and overall demand in the future.  Updates to these products also include coordination across multiple other applications for seamless integration across IHG’s technology ecosystem (IHG Concerto™, GRS, PMS, data warehouse, Channels, etc.).  This role will direct the ROI evaluation and prioritization of RM products’ strategy and business requirements through creation of product roadmaps and capabilities documentation. Additionally, he/she will lead teams to accomplish goals and objectives including a technical and business-oriented team as well as large extended working teams and stakeholders who are responsible for implementing and driving adoption of the products worldwide.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities –

  • Direct the vision and strategy for our RM Product portfolio future state based on deep understanding of how the business works and the potential “game changing” new functionality and capabilities IHG will require to compete.
  • Lead discovery efforts to identify pain points with current Revenue Products; creatively canvas the marketplace for viable solutions – either internal or 3rd party – to leverage new approaches for old problems.
  • Evaluate new AI techniques and tools to fulfill business needs.
  • Work in collaboration with Regional Revenue Management, other Product teams, Channels, Global Sales, Marketing, Operations, to integrate new RM Solutions into upstream applications and business plans.
  • Direct the creation of all business requirements which will define the functionality for the RM Products; lead technical development teams to deliver via the approved methodologies (e.g. agile).
  • Direct determination of ROI for RM Solutions and direct build vs. buy analyses to drive desired outcomes; measure results once implemented to ensure business goals are achieved.
  • Direct all UAT, hotel user testing and beta deployment activities in preparation for full global deployment. Ensure system is stable and deployment techniques are solid before certifying product for production rollout.
  • Consult globally with all regions, brands, stakeholders, and regional hotel operators/owners/managers to gather strategic plans and revenue generation opportunities, which help drive business requirements. Interpret retirements into a roadmap with a backlog of new feature functionality and regular delivery release cycles.
  • Act as a trusted and credible business partner, empowered to make critical decisions about new product functionality and business process changes and then validate with key stakeholder teams ensuring creative revenue generating improvements are being implemented.
  • Assist with implementation plans, documentation, training, and best practices for usage of the systems.
  • Plan, organize, control and lead subordinate functions within established budgetary manpower plans; establish goals, performance standards, and operating procedures for assigned functions. Participate in creation of department staffing and capital budgets.
  • Coach, develop, hire, fire, assess, discipline, document performance, recommend salary/classification changes. 
What we need from you

Education –

Bachelor''s or Master''s Degree(s) in Data Analytics, Information Management, Hotel Management, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics/Operations Research or other quantitative disciplines or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.

Experience –

8-10 years progressive experience with proficiency in multiple disciplines/technologies/processes related to the position including Travel Industry Distribution, Revenue Management, Hotel Management and Optimization as well as 5 to 7 years managing teams and/or significant complex projects.

Technical skills and Knowledge –

  • Demonstrated deep knowledge and understanding in a specific area of expertise which will encompass one or more of the following:
  • Product – refers to inventory, rates and availability
  • Revenue Management – refers to traditional RM practices of forecasting, yield, and pricing recommendations based on complex mathematical modeling, revenue/profit optimization
  • Sales & Distribution – includes all channel revenue delivery for both managed and unmanaged segments of the business
  • Data, Reporting & Business Intelligence – data analysis, performance measurement, revenue reporting, and strategic business planning
  • Guest Service Delivery – includes working knowledge of hotel operational environment including both on and above property.
  • Proficiency in conceptualizing and translating business requirements into specific system functionality.
  • Analytical understanding of hotel pricing concepts, yield management optimization and selling strategies as well as constructing ROI analysis. Deep analytical thinker with consultant like ability to quickly dissect issues and problem solve.  Enjoys the pursuit and is constantly digging for more – deep intellectual curiosity.
  • Proficiency in directing the modeling, development, and implementation of holistic business solutions for hotel guests and owners.

This position has Impact on:    

  • which projects, features and functionality are developed into the RM Products as well as multiple distribution technologies (e.g. websites, GRS, Channel Distribution, etc.).
  • the strategic and tactical direction of all of the ways hotels price and manage their inventory of rooms and other revenue driving guest services (e.g. restaurants, etc.). highly functioning revenue management platforms enhance the overarching value proposition for owners to select an IHG brand to invest in.
  • project priorities through analysis of industry data, competitive data, economic data, etc., in order to drive RGI and RevPar growth.
  • revenue generation for hotels, and provides franchisee and owner competitive advantage, thereby driving additional volume to the company.

  • Work is mostly performed in a normal office environment
  • Approximately 25% travel
