Affiliated with STARR Restaurants, colorful and contemporary Makoto offers bright and spacious indoor and outdoor dining on the third floor of the luxury boutiques Bal Harbour Shops. Designed by international designer India Mahdavi, Makoto is the perfect fusion of a French Brasserie, Japanese restaurant, and an American diner, all under one roof.

We are currently seeking a creative and influential leader with impeccable organization and attention to detail to join our team as Pastry Chef.

In this position, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to develop an exciting dessert menu consistent with the style of Makoto.
  • $70,000 - $ 75,000 USD

About you

- A minimum of 3 years of culinary experience as a Pastry Chef or Pastry Sous Chef
- Must be energetic & enthusiastic and possess strong communication, administration & organizational skills
- Prior experience managing the purchasing, ordering, production, and scheduling aspects of a pastry department
- A proven ability to lead others to deliver on consistent production of items including but not limited to ice creams, sorbets, cakes, and plated desserts
- Experience hiring, training, and mentoring a diverse BOH hourly staff with a commitment to team and restaurant success
