Description of the Host Property:
Find modern comfort and convenience in downtown Charlotte. UNC Charlotte Marriott Hotel & Conference Center is the gateway connecting the UNCC main campus, University Research and Innovation business parks and downtown Charlotte's business, shopping and entertainment districts. The contemporary design synthesizes the modern aesthetics of the surrounding commercial environment with the more traditional campus architecture of the school.

Description of the Training:
Experience the Culinary Department in a luxury resort environment through a J-1 Internship at the UNC Charlotte Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. During the internship, you will experience most areas of the culinary department through rotations in the different roles in the kitchen.
The program is designed to give you the experience needed to excel in the hospitality industry when you return home.

Description of the Location:
A charming yet sprawling Southern city, Charlotte is a pleasant urban area nestled in the Piedmont region of North Carolina, within a few hours’ drive of both the Appalachian Mountains and North Carolina’s white sand beaches. Shop-till-you-drop types will love SouthPark mall, the city’s upscale destination with more than 150 retailers and restaurants. An amusement park on the city’s outskirts, Carowinds, boasts a water park as well as attractions like Fury 325, North America’s longest steel roller coaster.

About you

• Must be a current student of a Hospitality or Culinary post-secondary academic institution.
• Or recent graduate (less than 12 months ago) of a Hospitality or Culinary post-secondary academic institution.
• Or a graduate of a Hospitality or Culinary post-secondary academic institution (more than 12 months ago,) with 12 months of verifiable related work experience.
• Or must have 5 years of verifiable related work experience.
  • Language required: English.
