 JOB SUMMARY

The Global Technology Procurement (GTP) team partners with business leaders across the Global Technology organization to ensure technology agreements are appropriately sourced, negotiated, and managed in accordance with Marriott’s technology procurement policies and standards. Partnering with business leadership as a key advisor to optimize total business performance, the Global Technology Procurement team is responsible for coordinating reviews of technology agreement that span architecture, security, privacy, finance, and other key functions. The Global Technology Procurement team further collaborates closely with other Procurement and Operations teams.

As a senior member of the GTP team, the Director, Business Processes will be responsible for managing, coordinating and implementing a wide variety of initiatives, special projects, and business process change in support of the Procurement team’s goals and objectives.  He/she will represent the team in key transformation and other initiatives; serve as a liaison, stakeholder and subject matter expert across Technology Procurement and with key stakeholders; manage project priorities, develop plans and implement activities; lead the effort to identify and implement process changes; and support continuous improvement efforts. He/she must be adept at tapping diverse sources of information, identifying opportunities, anticipating challenges, and devising and executing ways to meet priorities.

Partnering with the Vice President, GTP, he/she will be responsible for developing appropriate strategies and implementing best practices that will create flexibility to deliver against current and future business objectives and enable operational excellence.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

  • Partner with GTP leadership and process owners to evaluate processes to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency.  Draw upon creativity and experience to generate ideas for process improvement.  Improvements may be in the form of enhanced internal controls, increased leverage of technology, elimination of redundancies and low value services, or other changes that add value. 


  • For approved process changes, manage priorities, develop project plans, identify resources, partner with stakeholders, prepare analyses, make recommendations, develop responses and implement changes.  Use strong analytical skills, critical thinking and business operational knowledge.  Demonstrate an ability to achieve results through individuals that are not direct reports.


  • Serve as department liaison, finance stakeholder and subject matter expert on project teams, across GTP, and with key stakeholders throughout the organization (including the Law department, Vendor Management, Supplier Diversity and Sustainability, Finance, and Technology teams). 


  • Leverage Marriott’s technology (including but not limited to Marriott’s contract system, “miContracts”) to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of relevant processes.  Draw on diverse sources of information to identify and develop business improvement opportunities.


  • Effectively communicate proposed process changes and enhancements to stakeholders at various levels within the organization.  Obtain buy-in and support from these groups. Assist in the change management and communications related to implementation and launch of programs.


  • Develop and maintain strong relationships.  Provide guidance and/or consultation, as appropriate.  Effectively influence business decisions and financial outcomes and optimize overall work effectiveness.


  • Perform other duties / manage other projects and requests, as required.


CANDIDATE PROFILE

Key Talents and Experience

  • Minimum 7 years’ business management experience in a global organization with increasing management responsibility and history of consistently delivering business results.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Marriott’s business model and management and franchisee contracts.
  • Strong spreadsheet skills (formulas, analysis, and senior-facing reports) and Powerpoint presentation software skills.
  • Experience in leading and managing projects. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization, partnering with resources to achieve results through others. 
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills, critical thinking and knowledge of the procurement planning and contracting process.
  • Communicator; exceptional communication skills to create an atmosphere in which information flows smoothly through the organization in a timely manner.

Education and Professional Certification

  • Baccalaureate degree in Business, Finance, or related discipline required.
  • MBA or Master’s degree with a concentration in Business or Finance preferred

  • This position will be based at Marriott International Corporate Headquarters in Bethesda, MD.
