About the Opportunity

WeWork is currently seeking a Manager, Internal Communications. This full-time position will be based in New York and report to the Senior Director, Internal Communications and work in close coordination with the both the global communications and human resources teams as well as directly with the global, senior leadership team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for connecting WeWork’s employees around the world directly to the mission of the company, including ensuring there is a consistent stream of effective, helpful information that helps employees to drive the business forward. This work includes owning the internal communications function on a global basis as well as ensuring regional needs are met at all times.

We are looking for someone that will be able to promote the company’s strategy internally as well as to effectively and flexibly meet the needs of a multifaceted, fast-paced organization. As the company is highly data focused, the Manager, Internal Communications will need to be able to analyze data from employee surveys (such as eNPS scores) and other sources (including customer commentary) and use it to develop strategies to make sure employees support and are well-equipped to deliver on key objectives.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Develop a robust internal communications strategy and approach, that takes into account the need to adapt for change as the company evolves; develop and evolve core messages for employees

  • Develop a team of internal communicators, delegating and overseeing implementation of strategy and tactical activities as appropriate.

  • Plan, author, provide content, edit and deploy communications for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as a staff intranet, weekly newsletter, internal emails, etc.; support with the planning, design, content and execution of materials for company-wide programs and meetings.

  • Work with senior leaders to ensure they optimally communicate with their teams – including developing their “voice”, the mediums they use, and cadence.

  • Work closely with the Chief People Officer and HR team to effectively communicate about top human resources priorities and specific programs/news.

  • Analyze data and develop programs to act on critical feedback and, as needed, drive change.

  • Lead all aspects of Intranet, to ensure that information is up to date and reflects the latest communications/is consistently a highly useful tool for employees.



About You

We’d love to hear from you if you meet the qualifications below:

  • At least 5+ years of communications experience, with a significant focus on internal communications – in house or agency (candidates with backgrounds in marketing or journalism may be considered if experience/capabilities meet the demands of the role).

  • Confirmed ability to develop and execute critical communications plans – demonstrate successful outcomes from communications activities where they have conceptualized, developed and executed a multi-channel communications plan.

  • Strong project management skills – Prioritize work in a disciplined and rigorous manner but equally exhibiting “big picture” thinking and attention to detail.

  • Outstanding communications skills – in person and in writing, confident (including in working with senior leaders), creative, focused, flexible.

  • A strong work ethic, with the ability to prioritize, manage time effectively (and help a team to do so), and get work done – meeting high standards and tight deadlines.

  • Experience in working in/with global organizations.

  • Deep awareness of current and emerging topics in HR/communications/corporate life – such as a focus on diversity, equality, sustainability, etc.

  • Knowledge about/creative with a range of internal communications tools.

  • The ability to analyze data and turn feedback into action.

  • Fast learner – Ability to master new tools and platforms quickly.

  • Impact player – Strong self-starter who is willing to make their mark in a fast-paced, ambitious organization.

  • Great teammate with a willingness to jump in as needed on projects outside your scope.
