The Role of Director of Marketing:

The Director of Marketing forms part of the Hotel Leadership team who collectively make key strategic and operational decisions for the Hotel. Our DOM leads all functions of the Sales & Marketing Department, overseeing productivity of Rooms Sales, Catering Sales, Yield & Revenue teams, contributing towards maximizing hotel profitability, and business growth potential. The position has overall responsibility for achieving revenue goals, guest and employee satisfaction and the financial performance of the department. This post will be based at Four Seasons Hotel Firenze and regular travel is required.

Responsibilities:

Create and implement sales & marketing strategies to deliver top line results.

Ensure strong brand positioning of the property in the ever changing competitive environment

Planning, implementation, and evaluation of all marketing activities and sales tactical plan.

Lead sales functions to build long-term, value-based customer relationships that enable achievement of hotel revenue goals.

Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing program that will enhance the hotel's image and position within the marketplace and the general public, facilitate internal and external communications.

Recruit, select and familiarize marketing department personnel with the Hotel and their functions. Train and guide marketing department personnel in the performance of their duties as to specific position responsibilities, performance techniques, reporting procedures, etc.

Conduct performance evaluations and follow up with marketing department personnel.

The ability to build a positive, inspiring and goal-driven working environment.

Drive revenue management culture in the hotel.

Key Functional Leadership Competencies

Build, lead, coach, train and develop a strong team.

Build trust and confidence with stakeholders; Ownership, Home Office, PC and hotel team.

Maximize Hotel Revenue Management.

Understand the different needs of market segments (Published, Wholesale and Group). Build and maintain Optimal Business Mix, strong revenue generation efforts in Banquet department, and other areas (Spa, R&B).

Lead revenue generation strategy and culture on property, support analytic approach has technical understanding of revenue management tools.

Key Functional Marketing Competencies

Develop the advertising and business promotion budget in conjunction with the Annual Marketing Plan and Minimum Operating Standards.

Analyze the property’s capabilities and identify the direct sales, advertising, and public relations programs necessary to attract targeted sources of business.

Review and monitor competitive hotels to ensure product and service offerings position property for competitive advantage with the objective to lead/grow market share.

Manage hotel presence and content across all communication channels, both brand and third party platforms. In conjunction with Hotel Marketing / MarCom.

B to C and B to B communications Including collateral, visual assets, direct response, advertising, Web, interactive and Social channels meeting performance standards.

Manage SEO, PPC, direct marketing and other advertising budgets and opportunities.

Key Functional Sales Competencies

Provide "One up" sales assistance for all key accounts, where relevant and participate in deployment decisions and yield decisions as appropriate.

Develop and implement a sales strategy to effectively manage all the different sales channels; utilizes on-property sales resources and leverage all above property sales engines to deliver results. Ensure the development of a strategic account plans for the demand generators in the market.  Deploy sales team against appropriate market segments.

Ensure effective communication with all sales support system (such as corporate marketing and worldwide sales offices).

Our Ideal Director of Marketing will have:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a position with similar managerial capacity.

More than one international destination experience is preferred. Solid experience in a compatible luxury hotel experience with proven track record in both sales and marketing.

Strong leadership skills to manage diverse employee group with a wide range of experience, resulting in a positive working environment.

Strategic, strong business acumen and the highest evidence of professionalism and adaptability are required.  Individuals also need to be a catalyst for change and an employee champion.

Strong work ethic, confidentiality and well developed organizational and planning skills.

Excellent negotiation skills and strong decision-making abilities.

Working computer skills and knowledge including but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Delphi, Internet and Opera.

Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the Italian and English language. A third language is a plus.

Legal right to work in Italy.
