our Seasons Hotel Boston is looking for a Group Sales Manager who shares our passion for excellence and is enthusiastic about creating the ultimate service experience. The Group Sales Manager is a part of a dynamic team that provides award-winning service to our guests.  The Sales Manager works directly with the Director of Sales and will play an integral role in the development and execution of an annual integrated plan comprised of Social Catering events here at the Four Seasons Hotel Boston.

Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to: 

  • Identify and target group customers that will generate business on behalf of hotel but not conflict with WSO efforts.  

  • Negotiate, draft, generate and confirm/sign contracts that ensure hotel budget and revenue targets are achieved. 

  • Pricing and recommend pricing concessions as needed to secure business in support of hotel budget targets. 

  • Utilize Various Prospecting Resources to solicit and secure business on behalf of hotel.  

  • Use company wide programs, sales developments, prospecting projects, WSO customer events and reporting for group business development.  



  • Follow up on all business inquiries and leads and qualify business to generate room nights and associated food and beverage revenue to impact RevPar performance.   

  • Create and execute account plans for assigned market territory to ensure maximum revenue and budgeted targets are achieved.   

  • Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual revenue and direct sales goals including outside sales calls, prospecting calls, site inspections, and entertainment as outlined.    

  •   Uncover potential P2P leads on behalf of sister properties and the company. 



Desired qualifications for this position are but not exclusive to: 

  • Assist Conference Services and Catering team as required, particularly during large group movements. 

  • Assist with all guest inquires within the Sales, Marketing and Conference Services Department, including assistance with high telephone volume and walk-in site inspections. 

  • Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management. 

  • Provide input on the marketing plan and budget.  

  • Be fully versed in the facilities and capabilities of the Hotel’s competitive set. Maintain a visible presence in the community through regular involvement with Industry associations. 



  • Assist in developing and executing projects for assigned market areas to increase group and catering activities, volume and profit.  

  • Act as the liaison for all vendor/supplier related client's needs, (i.e., Audio Visual, Florists, Entertainment, Transportation, DMC, Off-site Locations, etc.). 



A successful candidate for this position will possess: 

Education: 

  • College Education required 



Experience: 

  • 3-5 years previous group hotel sales team experience. 

  • Preferable experience in the Boston marketplace. Preference given to previous experience with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.  

  • Luxury Sales experience required. 

  • Demonstrated skill in booking and detailing high value meeting and incentive events to include financial services, associations, education, health care and technology sectors. 



Skills and Abilities: 

  • Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language. 

  • Strong selling and interpersonal skills. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to handle demanding situations and guests. 



  • Elevated level of creativity and attention to detail. 

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and make decisions in a fast-paced client driven environment. 

  • Ability to work long and irregular hours, holidays, weekends and evenings. 

  • Golden Sales and Catering Computer Software, MS Word, Excel, RFP platforms and ability to use e-mail and the Internet.
