Summary

The Director of Sales has direct oversight of the hotel's sales operations and provides leadership in all selling activities within the hotel, working closely with the Rooms, Food and Beverage, and other revenue-generating departments to maximize sales through the Sales Department's activities and other employees'.

Responsibilities include Corporate / Events Sales, Budget/P&L, revenue forecasting, developing and writing business plans, and ownership meetings. Additionally, this role leads the development and implementation of short-term and long-term strategies in all sales channels to achieve the hotel's revenue goals and increase market share performance. 

The Director of Sales reports directly to the Director of Sales & Marketing.

 

Key processes include but are not limited to:

  • Support in the creation of the annual Hotel Business Plan
  • To help create and execute the Sales plan ensuring that all relevant markets are covered and that the plan is measured on a bi-weekly basis
  • Manage the Sales team on a day to day basis, ensuring they are meeting their financial targets and customer service criteria across a portfolio of pre-defined accounts
  • Proactively develop new markets and new business segments
  • Ensures sales activities are aligned with the Corporate Marketing Strategy and Hotel Actions have been implemented where appropriate.
  • Reviews sales files and systems to ensure correct booking procedures, including group room and meeting program history, contractual agreements, room block analysis, credit and payment documents, etc.
  • Strategically analyses business performance to facilitate accurate and meaningful forecasting, involving the respective Heads of Department as appropriate.
  • Proactively manages all the sales resources and funds and control departmental costs.
  • Actively participates in weekly yield meetings and monthly strategic meetings, developing and adjusting sales and pricing strategies.


Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years work experience ideally as Director of Sales or Director of Business Development in an International Hotel
  • Strategic orientation, as well as good problem solving, administrative and interpersonal skills, ability to motivate and lead a team, are a must
  • Proficiency in English and Japanese.
  • Intermediate or expert skill level in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
  • Initiative, drive, and enthusiasm.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
