JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Global Enterprise Insight & Strategy, plays a critical role as a major insight and strategy provider in support of the Consumer Operations organization and the broader enterprise. This role will support the Senior Director, Global Enterprise Insight & Strategy in developing customer insights and strategies and working with teams across the organization to address implications. The Senior Manager will leverage all technical resources available to ensure the consumer is kept at the center of key business decisions. A critical role of the Senior Manager will be to understand key questions that are being (or should be) asked by the business teams, identify the appropriate solutions and business information sources (including research, analytics, and third-party information) to answer such questions, and synthesize data and insights into actionable steps to drive the business forward. The Senior Manager will also be responsible for managing and coordinating a number of cross-functional efforts across the broader Global Enterprise Insight, Strategy, and Analytics team, including the monthly Insights Package and the quarterly Brand Health report.

The Senior Manager will demonstrate knowledge on relevant issues, products, systems, and processes, keeping up-to-date on the market, consumer trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging threats.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in economics, business, math, or marketing
  • MBA highly preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in corporate strategy or management/strategy consulting, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance; equivalent to a management/strategy consulting Associate
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize business and consumer data from multiple sources into insights with practical application to business needs
  • Experience applying basic business strategy frameworks (e.g., 3 C’s, 4P’s, Porter’s 5 Forces)
  • Experience using a hypothesis-driven approach to answer a business question and identifying ways to test a hypothesis (can be as part of a team)
  • Demonstrated quantitative acumen, including ability to use Excel to conduct basic data analysis
  • Top-notch quantitative and analytical skills; ability to find structure, logic, and insight in complex business problems to provide meaningful conclusions
  • Global experience preferred
  • Experience working with data and analytics teams
  • Strong project management skills and experience balancing multiple projects or responsibilities simultaneously
  • Experience with B2C brands, ideally with consumer segmentation and brand positioning; understands and can articulate viewpoint from “voice of customer”


CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Supports Enterprise Strategy

  • Produces synthesized insights, implications and related strategic recommendations that drive customer-centric strategy and initiative development. Continues to partner/advise business leaders as recommendations and strategies are brought to life.
  • Connects the dots between insight sources (research, analytics, third-party sources) and business goals to develop and communicate recommendations that inform business strategy, key recommendations, and enterprise action.
  • Builds thought leadership on the future state of the hospitality and travel industries, and potential impact to Marriott’s overall strategy
  • Enables Marriott International to move quickly by crisply framing a problem space, potential paths, and tradeoffs
  • Tackles hard, cross-disciplinary questions with rigor and independence, owning small projects from problem definition to final recommendation(s)
  • Own pieces of larger, enterprise projects, developing own workplan and hypotheses, identifying data and research to test hypotheses, and synthesizing conclusions into a compelling story
  • Develops basic storyboards, including Executive Summary, slide headers and data, and implications/recommendations
  • Effectively coordinates with extended Global Insights, Strategy, and Analytics team members, and, when needed, external vendors/suppliers to ensure that they clearly understand and deliver on work objectives in a timely, high quality, and cost-effective manner
  • Effectively manages multiple internal clients, projects and disciplines simultaneously


Supports Brand Insights and Brand Health program

  • Manages and coordinates quarterly Brand Health reports
  • Develops deep insights to support key brands and answer specific business questions for Brand teams, drawing on a combination of third party reports, analytics, and research
  • Develops strong relationships with Brand teams, understanding their business questions and proactively providing insights to support business decisions


Owns Consumer Trends Updates

  • Maintains an external mindset, including staying on top of consumer, competitive, and macroeconomic/geopolitical trends
  • Own monthly consumer Insights Package update, highlighting key trends within and outside the industry and their impact on MI
  • Understands and communicates insights on the impact of consumer and travel trends on our business

Colorado Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $90,975.00 to $180,131.00 annually.

New York City & Westchester County, NY Applicants Only: The salary range for this position is $110,081.00 to $198,146.00 annually.
