Job Description


 

The knowledge of a great Concierge is the expectation of our Guests when staying at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. Your ability to anticipate Guests’ needs and make informed suggestions will ensure they have a truly memorable stay. As an active member of the Guest Services team, the Concierge takes responsibility for and executes guest service at the Lobby Concierge Desk, supporting Hotel Operations as needed. The ideal candidate will have previous concierge experience; be pro-active, creative and service driven, coordinating guest requests throughout their stay for special arrangements/services, actively promoting the Hotel.  

Reporting to the Chef Concierge, the Concierge will be responsible for the following:

  • Liaise with guests, patrons, colleagues, and vendors, strengthening relationships while ensuring the provision of superior service levels for all amenities and services offered.
  • Execute the processes of the Concierge function proactively through the research, establishment, communication and utilization of personal information about guests and patrons to achieve engagement and confer recognition.
  • Work cohesively in collaboration with the Guest Services, Royal Service, Front Office and Fairmont Gold teams to ensure a smooth and opportunity free experience for all guests and patrons.
  • Manage projects and any other reasonable duties as required by the Chef Concierge and/or Fairmont Gold Manager.
  • Perform regular inspections of lobby concierge area initiating any corrective action immediately.
  • Ensure a warm and genuine service experience from arrival to departure for all patrons and guests, engaging guests as appropriate.
  • Assist Chef Concierge in the maintenance of departmental information folders with up-to-date information as pertinent as a part of the department’s ongoing communication program.
  • Assist the Chef Concierge as requested in the administration and oversight of approved vendor listings and master directories.  
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to Hotel grooming standards.
  • Read and respond to all e-mail correspondence as necessary, accommodating guest requests expediently and courteously, following-up as necessary to ensure completion of requests within twenty four (24 hours) from receipt.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of: all Hotel features/services, hours of operation, all Hotel food and beverage concepts including menu price range, dress code/ambiance, guest room accommodations, layout, amenities, packages and promotions, daily house statistics including VIP guests, scheduled significant events, area events/attractions and holiday schedules.

Criteria for Evaluation

  • Reporting to work promptly and completion of work flow processes as required according to established standards.
  • Maintaining communication with supervisor with regards to daily operation.
  • Assisting in training of new colleagues as required.

Areas of Concentration

  • Continuous maintenance of service according to standards set by Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.
  • Prompt and continuous following of daily routines and procedures to ensure consistent efficiency and guest satisfaction

Qualifications


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
  • Minimum two years experience as a Hotel concierge in a luxury setting.
  • Multi-lingual preferred.
  • Succinct knowledge of local attractions, services and suppliers/vendors required.
  • Active membership in Les Clefs d’Or is an asset.
  • Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management is an asset.
  • Ability to multi-task maintaining a high level of service during high activity, prioritize tasks and consistently follow-through, work varying shifts based on business demands.
  • Computer proficiency not limited to: Microsoft Office Suite.

Physical Aspects of Position include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs
  • Constant kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
