Marketing Manager – Hilton San Diego Bayfront

Supports the Complex Director of Marketing in all Marketing Planning & Execution strategies for Hilton San Diego Bayfront. Assists in the development, management, execution and measurement of all aspects of the marketing/branding strategies under the leadership of the Complex Director of Marketing; including but not limited to Marketing Budgets, Social Media, Websites, Paid Digital & Traditional Advertising, Video/Photography Assets, etc. All efforts should be focused on maximizing performance. Success measures include: budget achievement, increasing topline revenue, optimizing expenses and achieving channel/market share objectives. 

This position requires extensive and regular interaction with the Complex Director of Marketing, Complex Marketing Manager, Commercial Director and may also include regular interaction with the hotel’s General Manager, Director(s) of Sales, Director of Revenue Management, Director of Food & Beverage, Director of Rooms, Director of Property Operations, and Director of Finance. The position may also act as a liaison between outside agencies and contracted vendors/service providers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assists with Marketing Planning & Strategy

  • Branding & Positioning: Supports in the execution of all messaging, positioning and marketing strategies for Hilton San Diego Bayfront. Also delivers content and messaging that meets brand standards.
  • Planning & Budgeting: Supports in the development of strategic marketing plans and budgets under the leadership of the Complex Director of Marketing. Marketing plans should be annual, seasonal and by segment of deployment inclusive of cost and deployment strategies (traditional, digital, and/or social media) through the review of competitive data, demand analysis and market mix management.
  • Agency Point of Contact: May be the day-to-day agency point of contact to ensure execution of the marketing plan (if agency support exists).
  • Partnerships:
    • Internal Partnerships: May work with internal corporate partners including but not limited to Brand Marketing, Destination Marketing, and the MEC.External Partnerships: May assist in identifying partnership/activation/sponsorship opportunities for joint outreach that align to the hotel's positioning
    • External Partnerships: May assist in identifying partnership/activation/sponsorship opportunities for joint outreach that align to the hotel's positioning


Leads Tactical Marketing Execution

  • Paid Media Execution:  Executes Hilton San Diego Bayfront’s strategic marketing plans within the established budgets. This includes (but is not limited to) execution within email, digital media channels, social media, online listings, and traditional advertising (where applicable).
  • On-Property Experiences: Along with the Complex Director of Marketing, aids in creative ideation of experiences / activations / on-property programming for the operations team to execute.
  • Social Media Champion: May curate property-specific content and coordinate with social media agencies (where applicable). Assists with coordination of blogger outreach and influencer stays; prepares influencer agreements and media release forms; serve as on-site contact.
  • Marketing-Specific Project Management: Manages the development of ad creative (in coordination with an agency where applicable) for all marketing initiatives, ensures timely media placement and coordination of production/materials deadlines, in addition to, project expense management.
  • Content & Asset Management: Under the strategic direction of the Complex Director of Marketing, ensures content and assets (including but not limited to: Website Content, 3rd Party Sites content, Digital & Traditional Advertising, Photography and Videography) are updated and align to the hotel’s branding and positioning strategY


Meetings, Presentations and Reports

  • Assists with Reporting: Prepares marketing activity reports on regular cadence and on an as needed basis to assist with campaign optimization, ownership meetings, and commercial meeting. Tracks and analyzes success of marketing campaigns and works with the Complex Director of Marketing to adjust marketing strategies/budgets where needed based on performance metrics.
  • Leadership Presentation Preparation: Assist the Complex Director of Marketing in preparation for all strategic meetings, including weekly and/or monthly hotel executive committee meetings, ownership reviews and corporate hotel reviews.  At times, this role may be required to present in these commercial meetings


SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides analysis to the Complex Director of Marketing where necessary to support the development of the annual business plan and on-going measurements.
  • Performs special marketing projects and other responsibilities as assigned.


SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Knowledge of marketing communication mediums included but not limited to: traditional media, digital paid media channels, and social media channels.
  • Ability to perform critical analysis and to manage extensive amounts of information
  • Excellent written skills sufficient to produce internal/external sales and marketing communication
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively deal with department heads, executive committee members, team members and corporate staff.
  • Ability to manage projects effectively – ability to manage multiple projects, meet and work effectively under time and resource constraints

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

Education:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Four-year college degree required.
    • Emphasis in marketing and/or public relations preferred


Experience:

  • 2+ years combined marketing, advertising, and/or ecommerce marketing experience. 
  • Prior hotel/travel industry experience preferred
