It’s sales and marketing that make our hotels, resorts and residences prosper.  As the Director of Marketing & Commerce, you will lead by example in directing and leading the activities within your department.  You take pride in the development, implementation and successful execution of the hotel’s annual marketing, communication and commercial strategy.  You will set the hotel’s commercial strategy to maximise revenues, profits and market share.  Your team depends on you, and your efforts are valued and important to the success of the business.

The structure

You’ll be managed and guided by the General Manager.  The two of you will meet regularly to brainstorm, share updates and flag issues before they become problems. You will work closely with the Director of Revenue Strategy.   You will support, and be supported, by your operations team.

  Your responsibilities

You’ll lead the development, implementation and execution of the hotel’s annual commercial strategy, directing the activities of those that report to you.

 

In alignment with the Director of Revenue Strategy, it’s your job to set the hotels’ strategic business direction by balancing financial objectives, managing the sales segments and guiding the commercial strategies of the hotel. You will do this by:

  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating short and long-term marketing strategies to meet revenue goals, to grow RevPAR and to shift share for rooms, F&B, and ancillary departments. 
  • Preparing the hotel’s annual budget and developing, implementing and adapting the Annual Marketing Plan as market conditions fluctuate. 
  • Developing the marketing and commercial strategies for the hotel and ensuring the strategies conform to MOHG’s brand philosophies, guidelines and initiatives.
  • Determining sales strategies and leads efforts, coordinating these strategies between Global Sales Offices, Marketing & Communications Teams and on-property leadership.
  • Ensuring that commercial strategies are aligned with Revenue Management and communicated to Sales, Marketing and hotel leaders, and are implemented and modified as market conditions fluctuate
  • Reviewing and finalising weekly/monthly forecasts with the Director of Revenue Strategy. 
  • Participating in long range meetings with key hotel leaders, assisting in the implementation and continual improvement of the forecasting process. 
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of property participation in channels and determining the proper spend deployment.
  • Positioning the hotel in various distribution channels, ensuring information accuracy and monitoring competitor positioning.
  • Managing the annual expenditure for all sales and marketing activities and control of the budgeted expenditure by a monthly forecast.
  • Maintaining continual awareness of current and future competitors, for example but not limited to, product, published offers/pricing, renovation plans and inventory.
  • Monitoring and auditing data hygiene in all sales systems to ensure high compliance to standards and to aid in accurate reporting capabilities.


  It’s your job to ensure departmental sales and catering goals are achieved. You will do this by:

  • Guiding the DOS and DOC to determine strategic and appropriate deployment of their sales teams.
  • Establishing priorities and sales goals with the DOS and DOC, holding each responsible to achieve team goals. 
  • Ensuring that DOS and DOC strategically target accounts to grow business. 
  • Motivating the DOS and DOC and holding them accountable through monthly evaluation of their segments, markets and accounts. 
  • Ensuring that all contracts are in line with MOHG’s Distribution guidelines. 
  • Conducting weekly sales meetings with the Sales and Catering team, guiding pricing, pattern and space strategy.
  • Conducting monthly account reviews with DOS and Sales Team.
  • Monitoring and auditing data hygiene in all sales systems to ensure high compliance to standards and to aid in accurate reporting capabilities.


You’ll lead the development, implementation and execution of the hotel’s marketing communications strategy, directing the activities of those that report to you.

  It’s your job to ensure marketing and communications activities goals are fully integrated and support the objectives of the hotel.  You will do this by:

  • Establishing priorities and objectives for the MarCom Manager, holding him/her responsible to achieve his/her goals.
  • Overseeing the creation and management of the brand identity for the hotel, in strict adherence with MOHG CID guidelines.
  • Overseeing all phases from planning to briefing and implementation of the Hotel’s annual advertising plan; coordinating with MOHG advertising department on all matters related to creative and media planning.
  • Directing the PR strategy for the Hotel to ensure positioning as one of the top hotels in the destination in the local, national and international media, ensuring a strong working relationship with MOHG’s international PR network and Corporate Communications Team.
  • Ensuring the appointment of a PR Manager and/or local agency to act as Brand ambassador, hotel spokesperson where appropriate and in counsel with MOHG Corporate Communications team if crisis communications are required.
  • Overseeing the development of a comprehensive social media channel strategy, ensuring adherence to MOHG social media guidelines.   
  • Partnering with the global digital marketing team to identify and execute paid social media campaigns to engage both global staying guests and local audiences for F&B and Spa.
  • Developing a CRM plan to establish, maintain and expand the hotel’s database and grow engagement with guests and clients. 
  • Developing strategic brand partnerships with relevant brands in the luxury, lifestyle and arts and cultural world. 
  • Directing the digital strategy of the hotel, ensuring up-to-date, brand-appropriate web site copy, photography, videography and all marketing assets. 
  • Liaising with the global digital marketing team to coordinate PPC, meta search and email marketing campaigns to increase direct digital bookings to the hotel.
