The role…

At Soho House, a Receptionist, is responsible for welcoming, directing or signing in all members and guests to the Soho Works property. As a Works Reception team member you will also be responsible for maintaining the reception desk, coffee and barista station, handle basic computer /  AV duties, supporting member events as well as performing Guest list responsibilities.

A successful Work Receptionist is responsible for being knowledgeable on all aspects of the property, neighborhood and fostering the "home away from home" feeling. We hope that you are a people person with excellent professional phone etiquette and a flair for making members and guests feel welcome!

Main Duties

  • Ensure every member and guest is welcomed by name (if local/applicable) and new guests are welcomed with open arms and in a hospitable manner with complete overview of site offerings and where to find additional resources if needed

  • Relationship builder and positive influence for member and guest experience through managing the floor, maintaining regular communication, supporting coffee orders, handling food, member and guest IT / AV requirements as well as various events
  • Answer high-volume phone lines and conduct office services including courier bookings, Food & Beverage requests, binding, bulk-printing, laminating, postage (receiving/sending) etc; familiarity with all costs/procedures
  • Understand best practices when asked question regarding catering menus, making coffee, hours of operation and amenity availability/pricing
  • Develop action plan(s) with regional and local leaders that address feedback, areas of opportunity and/or create alternative solutions to elevate member and quest experience
  • Assist with crowd control for private hire events that admit non-members into the club space to ensure access to private areas of the club remain protected
  • Support events team by attending member events
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work environment, reception desk area, coffee/barista station and coat check / AV and IT closet/ Mailroom

  • Perform Guest List duties and support, redirect and problem solve in real-time to ensure any guest related concerns are addressed and action items have been set

  • Build relationships with members and guests and communicate and red flags and positive feedback to management to assess
  • Influence a fun and positive atmosphere by being approachable and professional as well as oversight of receptionist assign per shift. Delegate appropriate tasks to receptionists and ensure the task is completed
  • Event bookings for users when requested; meeting room bookings for users when requested
  • Fully trained in all operational software 


Requirements

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-2+ years' experience in a similar role.
  • Must have experience answering high-volume phone lines and answering inquiries professionally, timely and to the best of your abilities.
  • Must have knowledge of or used similar software previously; Open Table, Salesforce and basic AV/IT experience
  • Problem solving skills and bring conflict resolution to any anticipated or current matter
  • Detail oriented, articulate and ability to multi-task in a high-volume and demanding work environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • An essential part of the job is being available on a flexible schedule and being willing to work outside "office hours". For example, nights, weekends and holidays (as needed and when applicable). This may or may not be required on a regular basis, but is mandatory when needed.


Physical Requirements 

  • Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.
  • Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours.
  • Fast paced movements are required to go from one part of the club to others.
  • Must be able to move, pull, carry, or lift at least 20 pounds.
  • Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required.
