Job Description

Role Mission

The DIY Manager - West, as part of the DIY (Do-It-Yourself) team, supports the growth of the DIY business for the retail teams in our West Coast markets. The primary responsibilities include the retention and acquisition of clients and creating a seamless client experience throughout the entirety of the DIY selling ceremony. The DIY Manager is responsible in overseeing the DIY experience and growing the business across their respective stores, ensuring the finest execution from the order process to the final client delivery and beyond. The role will support the implementation of new DIY offerings and initiatives in partnership with Gucci’s worldwide (WW) teams and aid in developing, executing and collaborating with cross-functional regional partners. The DIY Manager must exceed all financial and KPI (Key Performance Indicator) targets to meet the company’s goals within this unique service.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide market expertise by filtering DIY program needs, executing both regional/local training sessions and establishing the DIY program through consistent growth of both sales and clientele;
  • Acquire new DIY clients through grass-roots initiatives and collaboration with the retail teams;
  • Demonstrate and share category knowledge by clearly communicating and guiding store teams through the DIY process, while building awareness in the market ;
  • Build strong partnerships with members of the cross-functional teams such as store directors, DIY specialists, regional merchandising managers, regional marketing partners and WW merchandising partners;
  • Ensure store teams are optimizing the DIY program by placing, tracking and managing all orders accurately and timely;
  • Create a seamless experience for the end consumer from order placement to final transaction and follow up;
  • Provide a 360 degree approach in DIY planning to ensure consistency across all divisions;
  • Support the merchants and cross functional teams by providing DIY product/selling analysis and results;
  • Through the analysis of all DIY activities, recommend action plans and follow through on these actions;
  • Organize in-store events to increase program visibility and closely partner with Client Engagement team to improve client acquisition;
  • Develop and support the DIY specialists by providing inspirational and balanced feedback consistently to position them for success, providing the necessary trainings where needed;
  • Consistently keep Gucci North America a leader in the DIY market by providing timely and insightful competitive feedback to direct/indirect reports and WW Merchandising related to Made to Order & Made to Measure.


Key Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in a multi-store support role in a fast-paced, luxury fashion environment;
  • Previous experience with garment fittings and the MTM technical skill set;
  • Strategic thinker focused on the end results;
  • Proven ability to build lasting relationships with clients and coworkers by having a customer centric mindset;
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Ability to work in a fast moving, dynamic environment all while handling multiple tasks simultaneously ;
  • Ability to work an ad hoc schedule based on business needs which includes, evenings, weekends and holidays;
  • Able to communicate in English and French (for Canada) is strongly preferred;
  • Light domestic or international travel may be required.
