What will I be doing?

The Lead DevOps Engineer at Hilton will be responsible for enabling the development and deployment of different services and applications, working to operationalize new applications and supporting agile teams by enabling Continuous Delivery (CD) and Continuous Integration best practices (CI). This includes building out tools and automation features to help keep our core platform and applications running and available. Additional responsibilities consist of keeping our platforms up, actively monitoring the stacks, ensuring automated builds & deployments are functioning successfully and working with Quality and Security teams to enable automated QA and Security testing capabilities.

This job will require that you work with multiple skills and jobs at the same time to help script out solutions, build long-term solutions, and help keep production/staging/development environments as pristine and up as possible. Jobs involving keeping systems scaling and maintained is a main focus and you have had some experience with infrastructure security to keep our data secure and protected.

More specifically, you will:

  • Design, architect, and implement next generation Cloud architecture and automation solutions
  • Implement, maintain, and improve Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery environments
  • Own and lead initiatives to define, design, and implement DevOps solutions which includes reference architectures, estimates, and costing
  • Provide technical leadership, project guidance, and technology implementation in various areas such as UI, COTS applications, SaaS applications, APIs, and Micro-services


What are we looking for?

We believe success in this role will demonstrate itself through the following attributes and skills:

  • Support a successful and smooth transition from development to delivery of technology applications
  • Perform profiling, solving of existing solutions
  • Skilled in building user documentation
  • Proficient in a development or scripting language such as Python, Bash
  • Experience working with containerized applications and deployment using Kubernetes, Docker
  • Have experience driving automation of processes, build tools, and maintaining uptime/availability of large deployments


To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

  • Seven (7) years of professional experience in technology or a related field
  • Five (5) years of spent working with primarily AWS Cloud platforms
  • One (1) year of experience administering, tuning and configuring Kafka


It would be helpful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or Associate’s Degree with six (6+) years of Technology related experience, or High School Degree/GED with twelve (12+) years of Technology related experience
  • Seven (7) years working as a DevOps or SRE engineer
  • Five (5) years working with Continuous Integration (CI) tools such as Gitlab or Bamboo
  • Five (5) years of experience with Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environments
  • Three (3) years of experience with Kubernetes
  • Direct experience maintaining revenue impacting infrastructure
  • Experience with AWS MSK (preferred) Migration from datacenter to cloud MSK
  • Google Cloud or Azure cloud experience
